This detailed Atlas HO Scale Master Gold GE U28C is modeled after diesels developed in 1966, and provided a 300 horsepower increase over its predecessor, the U25C. Built on a larger frame than the U25C, the model also incorporated other improvements, such as new floating bolster trucks. The longer frame also allowed space for a steam generator for passenger service Only Santa Fe purchased the passenger variant U28CG.
