99973 PIKO - Model Railways - Small Scale - Big Success -".Central German Trademarks

The sixties, the belief in technology and progress is boundless. PIKO from Sonneberg wants to drive into the high-tech future with a toy train: The monorail is born. A futuristic vehicle that anticipated the Transrapid by decades. PIKO was founded in Chemnitz in 1948 on the orders of the Soviet Military Administration to build toy trains for East Germany. The heads of development tell how once and today popular toys are created from ideas under skilled hands. But the undisputed stars are the legendary rolling PIKO products: the E44 from the early years, the BR 55 steam locomotive that was built for decades, the silver INOX cars for export to France, the modern ICE or even the new model of the 118.
