Novelty 2024: The large side surfaces with the striking fans and the roof with a pantograph characterise the appearance of the modern Vectron Dual Mode. Great importance was also attached to details in the design and tooling: extremely vivid engravings of the ventilation grilles and bogies with an outstanding visual depth effect emphasise this. Technically, the model continues the proven line of PIKO designs. A powerful central motor is used for propulsion, two flywheel masses ensure excellent running characteristics and diagonally arranged traction tyres make it possible to transport long trains. In digital operation, the cab and cab lighting can be controlled digitally. The XP version also has a pulsed vaporiser and, for the first time at PIKO, a pantograph that can be raised and lowered digitally ex works.

The model bears the fits mfx® quality mark. In order to make digital decoders reliably usable for all users of the current Märklin digital control centres, a new fits mfx® quality mark was introduced together with Märklin and other manufacturers. This can only be used by digital decoders that have undergone and fully passed a special mfx® test.These decoders and also the locomotives in which they are installed bear the fits mfx® quality mark, which certifies unrestricted mfx® functionality. This means that PIKO products with the fits mfx® logo now also fully support the diverse functions of mfx®.
