The prototypes for the Bachmann N Scale EMD GP38-2 were introduced in 1972 and proved popular with many railroads in North America. The 2,000-horsepower diesel-electric road switcher was an upgraded model of the earlier GP38. This successful locomotive saw thousands constructed and used for everything from medium-duty road freights to commuter passenger trains. In the 21st Century they′re still popular and can still be found in service. This features an injection-molded body, fine decoration, RP25 contour wheels for operation on Code 55 and larger rail and E-Z Mate(R) knuckle couplers. It is DCC ready and is equipped with a NEXT-18 socket for the decoder installation of your choice. It performs best on 11′ or larger radius curves.
