This Bachmann HO Scale USRA Light 2-8-2 Mikado is a model of the very popular steam locomotive builtduring World War I. The 2-8-2 is also known as the ′Mikado′ after Baldwin delivered the first engines with this wheel arrangement to Japan Railways in 1893. During the First World War, the United States Railroad Administration manufactured a standardized 2-8-2 for freight service. The design proved so successful, that a number of railroads built their own copies of the design upon returning to private ownership making the 2-8-2 a popular freight engine which could be found across the continent.
