Novelty 2024: The DB V 160 010 in Era III as a prototypical model of the class 216 from PIKO. The specific features of the prototype were precisely transferred to the model during construction. In the 1960s and 1970s, the class V 160 or 216 was the express locomotive for lines without overhead wire on the German Federal Railways. The PIKO model combines the prototypical realisation with excellent running characteristics. These attributes are emphasised by the effective use of perfect engravings and a paint scheme that is harmonious down to the smallest detail. Contemporary LED technology serves as the basis for the red/white light change and the digitally switchable light functions. The model is factory-fitted with a PSD XP sound decoder with a large loudspeaker. The buffer beam of the vehicle can be completed in line with the prototype using the supplied accessories.

The model bears the fits mfx® quality mark. In order to make digital decoders reliably usable for all users of the current Märklin digital control centres, a new fits mfx® quality mark was introduced together with Märklin and other manufacturers. This can only be used by digital decoders that have undergone and fully passed a special mfx® test.These decoders and also the locomotives in which they are installed bear the fits mfx® quality mark, which certifies unrestricted mfx® functionality. This means that PIKO products with the fits mfx® logo now also fully support the diverse functions of mfx®.
