The Atlas Trainman N Scale EMD GP15-1 locomotive is based locomotives built between 1976 and 1982. Powered by a 12-cylinder EMD 645E engine that generated 1,500hp, it was commonly used as a light road switcher or a yard switcher. The GP15-1 was introduced as a replacement for aging EMD GP7 and GP9 diesels and as such was originally intended to incorporate frames from trade-in locos. A total of 310 units were built for American railroads. This standard DC model features a scale-speed motor with dual flywheels, directional LED lighting, accurate decoration and AccuMate(R) magnetic knuckle couplers. One note: on standard DC layouts this locomotive cannot be operated in a consist with a sound and DCC-equipped locomotive running in DC mode.
