The Class 187, the first of Bombardier´s third Traxx series, is a state-of-the-art electric bogie locomotive for 15 kV and 16.7 Hz and 25 kV 50 Hz AC systems. The locomotive was developed using design experience with the U.S. ALP-45DP hybrid locomotive. The private railroad company EP Cargo uses the BR 187 for freight service.
