This Bachmann HO Scale Silver Series 40′ Steel Gondola is based on cars used in the steam and classic-diesel eras. 40′ Steel Gondolas hauled everything from coal to scrap metal to pulpwood, serving all kinds of industries. Later in their life, some cars were transitioned into maintenance-of-way use, further extending their usefulness and expanding the types of liquid they carried. Today, examples can typically be found in museums and operating on photo freights with tourist railroads. The 40′ Steel Gondola features an injection-molded body with applied ladder, finely applied decoration, metal wheels for operation on Code 70 and larger rail and E-Z Mate(R) magnetic knuckle couplers.
