The prototype for the AtlasO Premier three-rail O Scale 6-Bay Cylindrical Hopper is based on cars used for hauling powdered and granular materials. Introduced in 1961 by ACF to haul sand, clay, salt, grain and bulk plastics, the Cylindrical Hopper was the first commercially successful tank-type covered hopper car design. A few of the more than 4,000 cars of this type built through 1966 could still be seen in service into the early 2000s. This O Scale model features a detailed injection-molded body, fine decoration, metal wheels and metal knuckle couplers. This car operates reliably on O-42 or larger curves.
