The Rapido Trains HO Scale GP9u Rebuild Low-Nose is based on units rebuilt from EMD/GMD GP9s for switching and local service. In 1970, CP embarked on a program to rebuild its aging fleet of GP9 road switchers. The locomotives had their front noses chopped along with many other appearance details change. The later rebuilds would receive upgraded 645 power assemblies, and a few were equipped to operate with slugs. The rebuild program lasted until 1988 and ushered in the plain CP Rail red scheme. This Rapido model features railroad and era-specific details, appropriate lighting packages and Rapido semi-scale knuckle couplers on both ends. The smooth-running drive features a five-pole motor with dual flywheels, backed up with the MoPower capacitor system for uninterrupted operation. This standard DC model is DCC ready with a 21-pin interface for easy conversion. The GP9u Rebuild is part of the line of Rapido Trains HO Scale locomotives.
