With the molded novelty of the cult locomotive for the TEE and IC service of the DB in the original version with apron and scissor pantograph, red/beige paint scheme in the short version, PIKO fulfills a great heart´s desire of many garden railroaders and lovers of attractive locomotives. As the first model of this series in size G, the class 103 is distinguished by a reproduction of all external appearance features of its large prototype. The finely painted and printed model impresses with the highest reliability, robustness, ball-bearing, chromed wheel sets, direction-dependent light change as well as a cab facility with locomotive driver. Also noteworthy are the many individually applied details such as grab irons and the distinctive windshield wipers. The BR 103 from PIKO also has high tractive effort and excellent driving characteristics. The model is prepared for digital operation with sound imitation. Engine room and cab lighting can be retrofitted without any problems.

Up to 4 lighting kits (#36017) can be installed in the locomotive (front cab, rear cab, and 2x engine room) and is prepared for retrofitting a pantograph drive (#36145).
