Bombardier's TRAXX locomotive platform is key to many railways' transport strategies. In Switzerland, these locomotives are referred to as the Re 482 class. The first of these locomotives entered service in the spring of 2002. In March 2024, locomotive 482 020 became part of the AlpPiercer family and was named "Europa".
