More info

The EF58 was introduced in 1946 as a locomotive to meet the need for passenger transport. Initially, the locomotive had a box-shaped housing, which was later replaced by a streamlined housing. Further improvements were made until 1958 (Showa 33), when 172 locomotives were built. In the heyday of the Japanese State Railways, it carried passengers on the main lines of Tokaido, Sanyo, Takasaki, Joetsu and Tohoku, and pulled old passenger coaches, blue trains of the 20 series, series 12 and 14, etc. It was also used as a freight train. In areas with heavy snowfall, they were equipped with a snowplow at the front. In the model, the locomotive convinces with its beautiful paintwork and high level of detail. The locomotive can be expanded with the OHA 12 (#7001501), Suhafu 12 (#7001502) and Ohafu 13 (#7001503) passenger coaches.
